Rocks and Minerals
Grade 4 students explore the differences between rocks and minerals. They study characteristics of the three types of rocks: sedimentary, Igneous and Metamorphic and how each is created. By the end of this unit our goals are to know how rocks are created, how to identify and name rocks and now how we use rocks and minerals every day.
Light
Students learn about the different properties of light. They recognize that white light is made of all the colours in the rainbow, that light travels straight and about reflection, refraction and optical illusions.
Sound
In this unit students will learn how sound is created, how it travels and how it is measured. The major project for this unit will be for students to design and make their own musical instruments.
